“He has made everything
beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they
cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
What
is beauty? Something/someone that attracts AND delights the eyes.
We
cannot NOT see beauty: colour, countenance, composition, etc.
There
is a kind of beauty that attracts the eyes – the external beauty.
There
is a kind of beauty that attracts the heart – the inner beauty.
The
Scripture makes this distinction clearly (Matthew 23:27); (1Peter 3:2).
Chapter
three (Ecclesiastes 3:1ff) starts with a list of “seasons”. “There is a
time…and there is a time…”
There
is a flow in each person’s life – a constant flow: time. As time flows there is
a mixture of seasons. It looks like we cannot force these “seasons”
as we would like to. We cannot extend certain seasons…and we cannot stop/interrupt
certain seasons. Solomon attempted to create food seasons…but he could not
stop the bad ones.
The
Bible assures us that everything has its time…
“There
is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven…” (Ecclesiastes
3:1).
The
seasons of our lives are determined by God.
We
have just celebrated the Christmas season. It was “timed” by God.
“But
when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under
law…” (Galatians 4:4).
God
also makes everything beautiful in its time…there is a time for beauty!
On
one occasion, a woman approached Jesus and washed His feet and anointed them
with precious perfume (Matthew 26:10). Jesus commended her saying, “…She has done a beautiful thing to Me.”
Our
worship, when offered in Spirit and truth, is a beautiful thing in the eyes of
the Lord.
Let 2025 be a year of complete trust in the Lord in the seasons of our lives.
